Welcome

Welcome to Monroeville, a small coastal town in Oregon that is the home to McGillicutty Preparatory Academy, one of the nation's most renowned private boarding schools that is known for it's rigorous courses as well as the eccentric and quirky students that it attracts from around the United States and the world. Nothing is ever truly normal at McGillicrappy, and the effect is starting to rub off on the town itself, including the local underfunded public school, Monroeville High. Most people end up going nuts sooner or later.

& The Grounds
Located about a 20 minute drive outside of Monroeville, nestled in the forests you will find McGillicutty Prep. The grounds are large and well-maintained, with benches and picnic tables across the grounds where students can sit and enjoy the weather, whenever it happens to not be raining. Off to the side, near the entrance of the grounds, is the school parking lot, where there is also a bus terminal. The local bus passes by every two hours.

& The School
In the center of the school grounds, you'll find the main building. Three stories tall with ivy crawling up it's red brick exterior, it is where you can find your classrooms as well as the administration offices. Hidden behind it are two smaller, separate buildings: the auditorium and the cafeteria.

& Gymnasium & Fields
Unlike the other school buildings which are more or less clustered together, the gymnasium stands alone on the west end of school property, surrounded by the school's various outdoor sports fields. In the basement of the building is an Olympic-sized pool and a small gym with exercise equipment, while on the ground floor you'll find the basketball court where most indoor gym classes are held.

The dormitories consist of two buildings: one for males and one for females. Both are three stories high and contain several individual dorm rooms that hold four students each, as well as common rooms on each floor. The student lounge is located between the two buildings.

& Monroeville Square
A pleasant little place located in the center of town, the square is home to several quaint shops and cafes, surrounding the actual "square", which is just a patch of grass on which a fountain statue of a whale stands, the pride and joy of the small town.

& The Plaza
The Plaza is a shopping center that can be found a little ways out from the town's center, though is serviced by the public bus line so it remains easily accessible. It's not as large and fancy as the malls you'll find in more populated areas, but it has quite a few of the familiar chain stores and boasts a pretty impressive food court.

Because it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye or ends up dying. While not the greatest hospital in the country, St. Oswald's is known outside of Monroeville mostly for it's exceptional cardiology program.

& Town Entertainment
Being a small town, there aren't too many terribly exciting places to go for some good, clean fun. But the natives work with what they've got, the three most popular places being the old drive-in, the skateplex, and the small zoo.

& Cherry Street
Also known as the bad side of town, Cherry Street is a long road on the outskirts of Monroeville, and the name is usually used to resort to its various alleys and sidestreets as well. There are some parts of it that aren't all that bad, surprisingly. Unfortunately, it's reputation keeps Monroeville's more respectable citizens away, especially after dark.

& Suburbia
Here is where a majority of Monroeville's population resides. This area is made up of mostly single-family homes in varying degrees of wealth depending on how far out you go from the center of town. There are also a few small garden-style apartment buildings and townhomes here and there.

& Beach
Not your typical white-sanded beach. Large, rocky cliffs look over the crashing waves in most areas, with narrow paths leading down to the actual beach, which is dark sand and plenty rocky as well. The water is usually cold even in summer, though the natives are used to it.

It's nothing special and the grass is patchy, but they do decorate it up with shrubbery. Too bad the shrubbery is thinning in many areas.

& Flea & Farmers' Market
On the weekends, people come from all around the county to visit the flea and farmers' market. During the weekdays, it's a quiet place. It has a nice gravel area for vendors to set up their tables as well as grassy patches for picnic lunches. A large barn-like building allows the market to carry on even during poor weather.

A beautiful, but small, lake further up in the woods. It's a good half of a day hike from town center. There is a road for vehicular travel, but the park service charges $7 for parking.
